Society of the Immaculata
Programme of Priestly Formation

Following the Novitite, those who are
to begin studies for the priesthood do so according
to a six year programme. As stipulated in the 1917 Code of Canon
Law, the programme of priestly formation consists of two (2) years of
Philosophy and four (4) years of Theology.
Each academic year is divided into trimesters: Fall [September to
Christmas], Winter [January to Easter], Spring [Easter to mid-June]. A
seminarian must attain at least a "D" grade in a given course in order
to pass that course. However, in order to be promoted to Tonsure or
Sacred Orders, the seminarian must maintain a GPA of 2.0 [ "C" average
]. Furthermore, before being ordained to the priesthood a seminarian
must have completed every course listed in the Society's Programme of
Formation, unless a course be specifically designated as optional.
